Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Waldo Horton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lloyd Royle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lloyd Royle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Waldo Horton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lloyd Royle!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Royle drives through with a takedown into guard.
Horton looking for a sweep. Not yet Horton, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Royle trying to control but Horton is working from the bottom.
Royle tries to free his leg and advance position but Horton is retaining full guard.
Horton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Royle is trying to maintain the position but Horton is very close to passing his half guard.

Horton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Royle can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horton wants to work for an arm triangle but Royle is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Horton is looking for a kimura but Royle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Horton to get the leverage.

Horton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Royle has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Horton working for a guillotine from mount but Royle is in no mood to give up.
Royle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Horton has control of Royle's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Royle regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Royle feints and as Horton raises his hands in defense, Royle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Horton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Royle's guard.

Horton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Royle can do to turn this around?

Horton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Horton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Horton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Horton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Horton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Horton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Royle defends it well.

Horton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Royle wants to get back to full guard.
Royle trying to hold on to Horton's head to control him but Horton postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Horton prevents Royle from improving his position.

Horton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Royle is just riding it out for now. Horton eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Horton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Horton stands up and beckons Royle to join him on the feet.
Royle swats away the attempt to clinch by Horton.
Royle changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Horton gets caught napping as Royle dives in and scores a takedown. Horton manages to retain guard.
Royle throwing strikes from guard but Horton blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Waldo Horton dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Horton lands a nice leg kick that just misses Royle's sensitive parts.
Royle takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Horton throws a series of punches but Royle avoids them all with ease.

Royle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Royle is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Horton has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Horton regains half guard there - taking advantage of Royle's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Royle stalling away here and it's allowed Horton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Horton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Waldo Horton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Horton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Horton is pulling down on Royle's head. It's preventing any offense from Royle, at least for the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Horton's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Royle wants to control from the top but Horton keeps moving.

Royle stands up over Horton, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Royle is fighting to break Horton's control of his arms but Horton is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Lloyd Royle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Waldo Horton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Waldo Horton.
Well Horton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
