Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathaniel Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Haack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathaniel Armstrong is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Andre Haack!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Armstrong counters with a three punch combo that has Haack backing up. Haack nods at Armstrong to acknowledge the strikes.
Haack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Armstrong blocks a head kick by Haack.
Haack pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Armstrong ducks under a wild hook from Haack.
We've been hearing reports that Armstrong has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

No joy there for Armstrong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Armstrong looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Haack has picked Armstrong up and slammed him! Armstrong can't keep hold of the triangle and Haack manages to pass to side control!

Armstrong shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

A combination from Armstrong does no damage.
Armstrong sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Andre Haack seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Armstrong takes one on the button.

Andre Haack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Armstrong throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Both fighters circling a little - Haack finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

and Armstrong counters with a nice double leg into side control. Haack won't be happy with that.
Armstrong is trying to ground and pound but Haack uses the momentary lack of control by Armstrong to regain half guard.

Armstrong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armstrong drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Haack dives on top into guard.


Armstrong escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Haack gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Haack wants to control from the top but Armstrong keeps moving.

Armstrong had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Haack defends it easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Haack must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

This has been an exciting period of action!

That kick from Haack tenderised Armstrong's leg. Armstrong is trying to keep his angry face on.
Haack lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Armstrong takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Armstrong ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Haack moves away.
Haack has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Haack lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Armstrong has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Armstrong and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Armstrong uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Haack.
Sloppy strikes from Armstrong. Those never looked like landing.

Armstrong shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Armstrong drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Haack manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Armstrong has Haack in his guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Andre Haack comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Haack has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
