Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Williamson !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williamson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Williamson defends it nicely.
Johnson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Johnson is looking to clinch.
Johnson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williamson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.
No joy there for Williamson , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Joe Williamson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson leaves Williamson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Johnson counters with a two punch combo.
Johnson's coach down at Cozad MMA Los Angeles was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Johnson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Williamson fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Williamson . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williamson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Johnson counters with a one-two to the body.
Johnson lands with a nice combination. Williamson backs away looking to recover.
Williamson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a head kick but Williamson moves out of range.
Williamson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Williamson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Williamson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Johnson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Williamson has hold of Johnson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Johnson seems comfortable defending it but Williamson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Johnson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Johnson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Williamson couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joe Williamson !
