Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Birdman Lugz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes to the cage accompanied by It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Birdman Lugz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 58 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 88 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Birdman Lugz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lugz has managed to clinch.
Lugz missing with knees to the body.
Liddell creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Lugz's defenses.

Liddell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lugz on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Lugz keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Lugz clinches with his opponent.
Liddell lands a nice elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Liddell tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Liddell successfully pulls guard.
Lugz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lugz wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving.
Liddell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Liddell pulls Lugz in close to his closed guard and prevents Lugz from doing any damage or advancing position.
Liddell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Liddell in particular looking to stall.
Liddell throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Liddell is thwarting Lugz's attempts to control the position.

Liddell wants to work for an arm triangle but Lugz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Liddell takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Liddell seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lugz for as long as he can get away with.
Liddell passes to side control.

Lugz is being controlled here.

Liddell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lugz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Liddell slows the pace down.

Liddell is trying to get an arm triangle but Lugz is defending well.
Lugz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Liddell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lugz is letting Liddell control him for a moment.

Liddell stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Liddell clinches up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lugz swings wildly with an uppercut but Liddell uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Liddell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Lugz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Liddell manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Liddell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lugz manages to get himself to full guard.

Liddell content to stall in guard here.

Liddell stands and throws Lugz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Liddell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lugz can do to turn this around?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Liddell is working to tighten his grip on Lugz's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Lugz has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Liddell is really squeezing tight and eventually Lugz passes out! Liddell breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Chuck Liddell!
