PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kylma Jaak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drake is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Darlin'. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kylma Jaak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Drake!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaak lands with a nice body kick.
Drake looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jaak scores with a shot to the body.
Jaak throws a wild body kick that Drake sees coming a mile off.
A head kick misses from Jaak.
Drake walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Drake fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Drake misses with an uppercut. Jaak saw that one coming.
An attempted straight right counter from Jaak misses the target.
Drake connects with a nice looking jab.
Jaak throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Drake's head.


It looks like Nathan Drake has been cut.
Jaak slips under a jab from Drake.
Jaak throws a head kick that misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jaak darts in trying to clinch
and Drake counters with a three punch combo that has Jaak backing up. Jaak nods at Drake to acknowledge the strikes.
Jaak misses with a left hand
and Drake counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Drake swings for the body but Jaak moves out of range.
Jaak swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Drake enables Jaak to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Drake manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Jaak scoring with some ground and pound.

Drake looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jaak throwing strikes but missing.
Jaak trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Drake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jaak defends well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jaak accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jaak postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Jaak controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've been hearing that Jaak has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Jaak won't allow Drake to sweep him here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jaak got a little sloppy there for a moment and Drake has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jaak has managed to get both his arms back between Drake's legs - danger averted.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jaak drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Drake looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jaak is stalling in the full guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Jaak shoots in and gets a takedown into Drake's guard.
Jaak throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drake works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jaak working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Drake controls Jaak momentarily but Jaak frees himself.
Jaak with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaak pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drake is keeping the position for now.
Jaak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jaak advances to half guard.
Jaak trying to control from half guard but Drake is working away.
Jaak takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Jaak is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Drake can do to turn this around?

Kylma Jaak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Drake is looking for a sweep. Jaak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Drake is staying active underneath Jaak, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jaak is looking for a kimura here.
Drake wants to get back to full guard.

Jaak lands with an overhand left.
Jaak misses the shot to the body.
Jaak pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Drake throws a jab when Jaak was well out of range.
Jaak connects with a crisp jab.
Jaak moves out of range of the strikes.
Jaak is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Drake.
Drake lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jaak's corner calls for a 1-2. Jaak obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Jaak throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Drake was covering up waiting for the punch and Jaak finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jaak is looking to work some ground and pound but Drake has wrist control.
Jaak looking to sit in guard and control but Drake gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drake advances to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Drake wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jaak keeps working.
Jaak trying to hold on to Drake's head to control him but Drake postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaak takes one to the side of the head.
Jaak throws a head kick but Drake moves out of range.
Jaak throws a nice head kick!
Drake looks to land a left hand but Jaak moved out of range nicely.
Drake is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jaak.

Jaak is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Jaak uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Drake.
Jaak takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jaak scores with a punch to the head.
A big left from Drake misses.
Kylma Jaak is winning the standup battle so far.
Drake misses with a wild body shot.
Drake pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Oooooh!!! Jaak has knocked Drake down with a huge combo! Jaak steps away and waves a wobbly Drake back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Drake is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drake is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Jaak Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Drake is out cold, face down on the mat!
