Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jared Mathis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackson Teller!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teller throws a right hand that Mathis ducks under and follows up with a left that Mathis also avoids with ease.
Mathis thinks about countering with a head kick.
Teller throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mathis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Teller is in Mathis's guard.
Mathis scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Teller looks winded!
Mathis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mathis gets control of Teller's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mathis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Teller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mathis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Teller working a defensive guard but Mathis manages to pass into side control anyway.
Mathis is trying to get an arm triangle but Teller is defending well.
Mathis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Teller knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Teller takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
It looks like Jackson Teller has been cut.
Mathis has hold of Teller's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Teller seems comfortable defending it but Mathis has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Teller is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Teller is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Mathis couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jared Mathis!
