Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rail Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Arroyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rail Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rail Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Javier Arroyo!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Gracie.
Gracie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gracie chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Arroyo.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Arroyo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.
Arroyo checks a low kick from Gracie.
Arroyo throws a big shot that misses.
Arroyo checks a leg kick.
Gracie throws a half hearted mid kick.
Arroyo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gracie scores with a push kick.
Gracie with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
An inside leg kick lands from Gracie.
Arroyo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And Gracie counters with a quick kick to the body but Arroyo blocks it.
Arroyo moves out of range of the leg kick from Gracie.
Arroyo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gracie.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gracie clinches up against the cage.
Arroyo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gracie is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Arroyo is defending well for now.
Gracie tries to work over Arroyo's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Gracie lands with a left to the head.
Arroyo blocks an uppercut.
Arroyo has a couple of punches blocked by Gracie.
Gracie tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Arroyo displaying some good clinch control by pressing Gracie up against the cage.
Gracie tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Arroyo is looking to control Gracie's arms but Gracie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Arroyo has his back to the cage.

Gracie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gracie feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Arroyo sprawling to the canvas! Arroyo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gracie finish him?!


Arroyo is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie lets loose with a powerful body kick. Arroyo will feel that in the morning.
Gracie throws a low kick, looking for Arroyo's leg but Arroyo calmly moves out of range.
Gracie stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gracie wants it to stay on the feet.
Rail Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Javier Arroyo.
Arroyo looks winded!
Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but Arroyo is just out of range.
Gracie connects with a leg kick. Arroyo looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Gracie goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Rail Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Arroyo shoots in but no luck this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie lands a nice leg kick that just misses Arroyo's sensitive parts.

Gracie has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gracie gets through Arroyo's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Arroyo is still on wobbly legs! Can Gracie finish him?
Gracie missing with knees to the body.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gracie takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Arroyo trying to control the position but instead, Gracie has worked for underhooks and has pushed Arroyo into the cage.
A hook to the body from Gracie.
Arroyo seems to have recovered his senses.
Gracie digs a right hand underneath Arroyo's ribcage. Arroyo let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gracie.
Gracie throws a quick inside leg kick.
Arroyo goes for a double leg but Gracie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gracie continues to drive forward.
Arroyo's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
A bone on bone clash there as Arroyo blocks the leg kick.
Gracie lands a leg kick that knocks Arroyo off balance momentarily.
Some bone on bone action there as Arroyo checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A solid body kick from Gracie.

Gracie forces Arroyo back against the cage and clinches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gracie creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Arroyo takes a knee to the side of the body.

Gracie breaks from the clinch.
Arroyo shoots in but Gracie avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gracie scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Arroyo on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gracie. Gracie obviously looking to wear him down.
Arroyo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A nice inside leg kick there by Gracie. That's going to slow Arroyo down.
Arroyo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Gracie lands a nice looking body kick.
Gracie keeps Arroyo at a distance using the push kick.
Arroyo blocks a leg kick.
Arroyo is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Gracie gets a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Arroyo misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gracie with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Gracie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gracie is looking to land body kicks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Arroyo blocks a head kick by Gracie.
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Gracie! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Rail Gracie!
Rail Gracie was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
