The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veikkari throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tortoise counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Veikkari is looking to break free of the clinch but Tortoise has double underhooks.
Tortoise tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Veikkari's elbow.

Veikkari is looking to control Tortoise 's arms but Tortoise gets an underhook and turns him. Now Veikkari has his back to the cage.

Tortoise seems to be working for a kimura but Veikkari defends the submission attempt.

Tortoise has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Veikkari tries to hold on but Tortoise pushes him away.

Tortoise has hold of Veikkari's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Veikkari manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

After the fight, Michelangelo Tortoise was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
