The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez throws a head kick that misses.
Marquez throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.

Jones clinches.

Jones gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Jones gets to his feet. Marquez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Marquez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters circling a little - Jones finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Jones gets a double leg takedown into Marquez's guard.
Marquez wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jones manages to pass to side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Marquez is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Marquez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots.
Marquez is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.
Jones is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Jones seems to be looking for submissions.
Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marquez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Marquez is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jones decides to stand up.
Jones looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt

so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jones is standing up over Marquez. Marquez looks to escape but Jones dives into side control.
Marquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Marquez stops Jones from passing to mount.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones tries for a kimura but Marquez is defending well.
Marquez is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it.

Jones in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Marquez struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Jones trying to control the action but Marquez is working from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones landing strikes.
You can see the frustration on Marquez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jones has hold of Marquez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Marquez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jones cranks the arm and Marquez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Marquez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
