Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Christian Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Ricardo Bordignon Miyao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joao Ricardo Bordignon Miyao!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle misses with the combination.
Battle throws a left and a right that both miss

and Bordignon Miyao counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bordignon Miyao.

Bordignon Miyao has picked Battle up - he's going for a ride! Bordignon Miyao dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bordignon Miyao in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that Bordignon Miyao has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Battle kicks Bordignon Miyao off and gets back to his feet.
Battle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bordignon Miyao tries to avoid it but Battle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bordignon Miyao to the ground. Bordignon Miyao escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Battle swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Bordignon Miyao holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Battle tries to pull guard but Bordignon Miyao holds him up against the cage and eventually Battle drops back down to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Battle jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bordignon Miyao walks away with a smile on his face. Battle gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christian Battle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Battle swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Bordignon Miyao moves into the clinch.

Bordignon Miyao is trying to trip Battle. He has hold of a leg but Battle is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bordignon Miyao persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Battle pushes Bordignon Miyao off and scrambles back to his feet.
Battle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bordignon Miyao circles away quickly and effectively.
Battle doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Bordignon Miyao counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Battle is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bordignon Miyao prevents Battle from getting back to his feet.
Bordignon Miyao is stalling in the full guard.

Bordignon Miyao tries to free his leg and advance position but Battle is retaining full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Battle has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bordignon Miyao after a bit of a struggle.

Bordignon Miyao jumps guard.
Bordignon Miyao bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Battle's guard.

Bordignon Miyao not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Battle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bordignon Miyao is controlling him.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Battle falls off balance throwing a combination

and Bordignon Miyao counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Battle!
Joao Ricardo Bordignon Miyao has got the better of the ground game so far.
Battle pushes Bordignon Miyao away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bordignon Miyao gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bordignon Miyao tries to move into full mount but can't pass Battle's legs.
Bordignon Miyao is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Battle will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Battle prevents Bordignon Miyao from improving position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bordignon Miyao is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Battle looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bordignon Miyao gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Battle is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bordignon Miyao lets go of the hold and Battle can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joao Ricardo Bordignon Miyao!
In his post fight interview, Joao Ricardo Bordignon Miyao started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
