PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Satoru Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihisa Matsui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Satoru Takada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yoshihisa Matsui!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsui throws a low kick, looking for Takada's leg but Takada calmly moves out of range.
Matsui misses with a kick to the body.
It looked like Takada was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
The fighters circle momentarily. Takada darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Matsui moves out of range of the strikes.
Matsui is looking to clinch.
Yoshihisa Matsui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matsui tries to clinch but Takada moves out of range.

Takada tries to keep at a distance but Matsui has taken the fight into the clinch.
Matsui told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

and Takada counters with a stiff right hand.

Takada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Takada throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matsui misses with a jab to the body
and Takada counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Takada has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Matsui tries to clinch up but Takada circles away and keeps his distance.
Takada scores with the left hand. Matsui knows he should have avoided that one.

Takada throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A slow jab from Takada misses its intended target.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Matsui tries to close the distance and clinch but Takada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Matsui looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Satoru Takada will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Matsui throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Takada stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
