Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Boris Em (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexei Lopatin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boris Em has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Boris Em!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexei Lopatin!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Em changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lopatin tries to avoid it but Em manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lopatin to the ground. Lopatin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lopatin has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Lopatin throws a head kick that Em semi-blocks.
Em shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lopatin pinned against the cage. Lopatin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Em shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lopatin defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boris Em. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lopatin misses with a two punch combination.

Lopatin clinches up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lopatin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Em uses from the top position.
Em showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Em drops back looking for a leg! Lopatin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lopatin manages to kick Em off! Em jumps back into Lopatin's guard.

Em postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Em works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Em is working for a kimura but Lopatin is defending it quite comfortably.

Em is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lopatin defends it well.
Em not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Em throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Em is looking for a kimura here.
Em winds up and cracks Lopatin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Lopatin tries to get to full guard but Em has control of the leg.
Lopatin wants to control but Em is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Em wants to work for an arm triangle but Lopatin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lopatin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Em. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Em throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Em looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lopatin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Lopatin manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Em takes a kick to the side of the head.

Em swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Lopatin gets tackled into the cage by Em. Em maintains the clinch.

Lopatin drags the fight down to the ground.
Lopatin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Em throws a strike but Lopatin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Em working for a triangle but Lopatin defends it easily.
Em utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Em seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Em looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Em has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lopatin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lopatin tries to free his leg and advance position but Em is retaining full guard.
Lopatin is pushing down on Em's leg trying to pass to half guard. Em is fighting to maintain full guard but Lopatin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Em tries to get to full guard but Lopatin has control of the leg.
Em pushes Lopatin off looking to stand but Lopatin dives back in and keeps control.
Em tries to roll over but Lopatin keeps him under control.
Em is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Lopatin prevents Em from improving his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lopatin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Em blocking the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexei Lopatin dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Lopatin moves into the clinch.
Em is working for takedown but Lopatin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Lopatin prevents Em from breaking the clinch.
Lopatin is pressed up against the cage. Em has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lopatin down to the mat. Lopatin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lopatin moves into the clinch.
Em wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Alexei Lopatin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Em with that takedown attempt.

Em looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Lopatin is avoiding damage well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Em thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Em is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lopatin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Lopatin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Alexei Lopatin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Boris Em's cut.
That's time! Em's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Lopatin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Em is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lopatin pulls his head out easily.
Lopatin is thwarting Em's attempts to control the position.
Em is trying to stand up here but Lopatin is controlling him well.
Em regains full guard. Nicely done.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lopatin gets to his feet. Em looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Boris Em is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lopatin lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Lopatin doesn't manage to clinch there - Em circles away.
Lopatin throws a series of punches but Em avoids them all with ease.

Good leg kick by Lopatin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lopatin stalks Em and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Em's face. Em staggers backwards, shaken.
Em is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lopatin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lopatin moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Em has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Lopatin scores with a takedown into Em's guard.

Em uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lopatin lands a front kick.
Lopatin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Em is looking to clinch but Lopatin is avoiding it.

Lopatin throws a right and a left that both miss.

Lopatin has Em up against the cage in a clinch.

Lopatin lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Em has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lopatin is working away from the top position though.
Lopatin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Em trying to control but Lopatin postures up.
Lopatin is taking a breather. Em says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Lopatin wants to free his trapped foot but Em is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Em looking for submissions off his back.

Lopatin stands up out of the half guard.

Lopatin moves into the clinch.

Lopatin breaks from the clinch.
Alexei Lopatin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lopatin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lopatin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Em.

Lopatin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Em's head.
Em throws a nice looking combination but Lopatin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Em throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lopatin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Em is in Lopatin's guard.
Lopatin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Em is one step ahead there.
Em missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Em drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lopatin dives on top into guard.

Boris Em has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alexei Lopatin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lopatin stays in close to Em's body and controls the position.

Alexei Lopatin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lopatin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
