Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Petie Mcpot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kane Saltan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petie Mcpot had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Petie Mcpot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kane Saltan!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcpot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Saltan sprawls well initially but Mcpot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mcpot's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saltan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mcpot has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mcpot winds up and cracks Saltan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mcpot seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Mcpot is looking for a kimura but Saltan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mcpot to get the leverage.

Saltan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mcpot shoots in but no luck this time.
Saltan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mcpot moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Saltan tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcpot swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mcpot ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mcpot no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Mcpot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcpot is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Mcpot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saltan for as long as he can get away with.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Saltan has eaten all the pies!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mcpot swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Saltan dives in and scores a takedown into Mcpot's guard.

Mcpot has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Saltan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Mcpot rushes Saltan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Saltan stuffs the takedown attempt from Mcpot. Mcpot gets slowly back to his feet.
Saltan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Saltan closes the distance and clinches.
Mcpot scores with a nice hook to the head.
Saltan is pressed up against the cage. Mcpot has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Saltan down to the mat. Saltan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mcpot shoots in for a double leg but Saltan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mcpot is controlling Saltan's posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Mcpot counters with a series of strikes. Saltan will be more careful next time no doubt.

Mcpot feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well Mcpot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
