And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Rogov!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Abbott circles away.
Rogov tries to clinch but Abbott is having none of it.

Rogov dives in and scores a takedown into Abbott's guard.
Rogov looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Rogov with a nice head shot there.
Rogov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Abbott works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rogov stands up from Abbott's guard - Rogov perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rogov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Abbott's waist but Abbott gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rogov off to one side.
Abbott appears to be looking for a big counter.
Rogov misses with a takedown attempt - Abbott sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Darrick Abbott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Rogov.

Rogov throws a right hand that Abbott ducks under and follows up with a left that Abbott also avoids with ease.
Abbott scores with a jab. Rogov acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Abbott walks into a straight right hand from Rogov.
No luck for Rogov with that takedown attempt.

Abbott has taken the fight to the clinch.

Abbott jumps guard and drags Rogov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rogov pushing down on Abbott's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Rogov lands with a punch from half guard.
Rogov not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rogov misses with a head shot. Abbott uses the momentum to regain guard.

Rogov tries to free his leg and advance position but Abbott is retaining full guard.
Rogov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rogov passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Abbott struggling a bit here.
Rogov cracks Abbott with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Rogov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rogov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Abbott tries to buck Rogov off but Rogov is having none of it.

Rogov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abbott keeps working.

Rogov stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Rogov shoots in but Abbott avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Abbott counters by moving into the clinch.

Abbott's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rogov swinging wildly here.
It looked like Abbott was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Rogov looks winded!
Rogov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Abbott circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rogov looking to score a takedown here. Abbott is defending well but Rogov drives through and ends up in Abbott's guard.
Abbott is trying to control the position but Rogov postures up.
Rogov stands and throws Abbott's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogov in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Rogov is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Abbott is trying to escape and Rogov transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Abbott is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rogov! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alexander Rogov!
After winning the bout, Alexander Rogov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
