Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Castro pinned against the cage. Castro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Castro shoots in for a double leg but Gomez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Castro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gomez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Castro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gomez is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castro has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gomez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Gomez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Castro.

It looks like Hai Gomez has been cut.
Castro manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Gomez jumps guard and drags Castro to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Castro is looking to work some ground and pound but Gomez has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Castro is trying to get back to full guard.
Castro is trying to maintain the position but Gomez is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gomez thows a huge punch but Castro dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Castro tries to bum rush Gomez with a series of wild strikes but Gomez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Gomez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gomez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Castro's waist but Castro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomez off to one side.
Fidel Castro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Castro misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Castro fails to land with a series of punches.
Gomez avoids the body shot from Castro.
Gomez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Castro.
Castro has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gomez is looking to counter the offense by Castro and move into the clinch.

Gomez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Castro walks away with a smile on his face. Gomez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

No joy there for Castro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As Castro tries to get set, Gomez tries to push him back and clinch up but Castro manages to avoid the attempt.
Castro looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Castro throws a nice looking combination but Gomez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gomez is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Castro.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Castro goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Castro throws a right hand that Gomez ducks under and follows up with a left that Gomez also avoids with ease.

Gomez feints and as Castro raises his hands in defense, Gomez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Castro is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Gomez dives into side control.

Castro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gomez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gomez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fidel Castro is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
