PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ezra Pittman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akala Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ezra Pittman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Akala Daley!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pittman to the mat! Pittman manages to get full guard.
Pittman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pittman thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daley wants to get up but he can't break Pittman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Daley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Pittman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Daley working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Daley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
It looks like Daley might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Daley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pittman throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Pittman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Daley controls the pace.

Pittman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daley defends it easily.
Daley lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Daley wants to stand but Pittman is controlling his posture from full guard.
Daley connects with a couple of short punches.
Daley is working Pittman over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Pittman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Daley controls the pace.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Pittman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Daley sprawls well initially but Pittman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pittman blocks an elbow strike from Daley.

Daley tightens his grip and picks Pittman up, before dumping him to the ground. Pittman manages to land in guard.

Daley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Daley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Akala Daley has got the better of the ground game so far.
Daley not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Daley wants to control from the top but Pittman keeps moving.
Pittman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pittman will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Daley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Daley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Still in half guard, Daley seems content to control.
Pittman is looking to control Daley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pittman avoid being mounted?
Pittman is pressing down on Daley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Pittman is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Daley dives into side control.

Daley takes a little break here. Pittman wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Daley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pittman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Pittman bucks up and tries to throw Daley off but instead Daley has got his back!
Daley is hanging on to Pittman's back as he tries to escape.

Daley lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

Daley is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Pittman defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Daley is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Pittman up.

Daley lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Pittman hold on?!

Pittman is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Daley gets his way!

Akala Daley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Pittman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Pittman shoots in but Daley avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pittman dives in for a single leg takedown but Daley sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Daley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Daley goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pittman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Daley but great work by Pittman.

Daley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pittman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Akala Daley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daley is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Akala Daley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
