Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otha Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Olaer Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Julio Olaer Jr has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Otha Head's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Otha Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Julio Olaer Jr !
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Head moves into the clinch.
Olaer Jr is pressed up against the cage. Head has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Olaer Jr down to the mat. Olaer Jr avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Head scores with a takedown into Olaer Jr 's guard.
Olaer Jr wants to sweep but no luck.

Olaer Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Head doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Head manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Olaer Jr is pulling down on Head's head to control his posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Olaer Jr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Head manages to get himself to full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Head holds on and takes a little breather.
Olaer Jr tries to stand but Head is controlling from the bottom.

Olaer Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Head is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Head has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Head avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Head in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Olaer Jr is controlling Head's trapped leg to prevent Head from advancing to side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otha Head dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Head shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Olaer Jr with the counter takedown but Head avoids it easily.

Olaer Jr shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Head's guard.
Olaer Jr won't allow Head to sweep him here.

Head escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Olaer Jr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Olaer Jr wants to control from the top but Head keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olaer Jr might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Head haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Olaer Jr stands up from guard. Let's bang!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Head is defended easily by Olaer Jr .
Olaer Jr leaves Head with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Otha Head. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Olaer Jr moves into the clinch.

Olaer Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Olaer Jr closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Olaer Jr lands in his opponent's guard.

Head tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Olaer Jr not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Olaer Jr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Head swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Olaer Jr chips away with some ground and pound.
Olaer Jr working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Head keeping moving, preventing Olaer Jr from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Head shoots for a double leg takedown but Olaer Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Head's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Olaer Jr swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Head counters with a series of strikes. Olaer Jr will be more careful next time no doubt.
Head tries to clinch up.

Head gets tackled into the cage by Olaer Jr . Olaer Jr maintains the clinch.
Head is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Olaer Jr doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Olaer Jr has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Head off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Olaer Jr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Julio Olaer Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Olaer Jr tries to clinch but Head moves out of range.

Olaer Jr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Olaer Jr wants to control from the top but Head keeps moving.
Olaer Jr stands up out of Head's guard for a moment - Head manages to land a nice upkick.

Olaer Jr is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Head wants to improve his position but instead Olaer Jr has moved into half guard.

Olaer Jr misses with a head shot. Head uses the momentum to regain guard.
Olaer Jr is in close to Head's body, working some short punches and elbows.


Head is rocked!

Olaer Jr advances position into side control!
Olaer Jr controls the position from side control.
Head parries the strikes from Olaer Jr easily there. Olaer Jr is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Head to escape.
Olaer Jr remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Olaer Jr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Olaer Jr works to advance to full mount. Head defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Olaer Jr avoids the attempt from Head to control.
Head is in all sorts of trouble here.
Head is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Olaer Jr has control of Head's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Head regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Head tries to lock up and control but Olaer Jr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Head gets back to half guard.
Olaer Jr keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Olaer Jr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Head keeps working.

Olaer Jr is looking for a kimura but Head is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Olaer Jr to get the leverage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Julio Olaer Jr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Olaer Jr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
