Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Araujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ajai Hoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Araujo comes into the arena with Who Shot Ya? blaring out of the sound system. Ajai Hoo acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luiz Araujo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ajai Hoo!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hoo's waist but Hoo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Araujo off to one side.
Hoo slaps away a takedown attempt from Araujo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hoo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Araujo defends it well.
Araujo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hoo circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luiz Araujo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Araujo shoots in looking for a takedown but Hoo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Araujo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hoo throws a sloppy head kick and Araujo moves out of range easily.

Araujo shoots for a double leg takedown but Hoo sprawls well. He's pushed Araujo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Araujo has his takedown stuffed
and Hoo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Araujo tries to sprawl but Hoo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Araujo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hoo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Araujo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hoo pulls his head out easily.

Hoo slips a nice elbow through Araujo's hands, connecting with Araujo's forehead.

Hoo lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Araujo down.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Araujo tries to improve position but can't.

Araujo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hoo scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Araujo is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hoo can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ajai Hoo!
