PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clint Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Nogueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartwright's entrance music is Total Domination. A fine choice. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cartwright.
Cartwright tries to clinch there but Nogueira circles away.
Nogueira has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Cartwright tries to close the distance and clinch but Nogueira swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nogueira thinks about the counter body kick.
Nogueira lands a jab to the head.
Cartwright shoots in looking for a takedown. Nogueira tries to sprawl out of it but Cartwright keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nogueira manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nogueira is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cartwright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nogueira sprawls well. Nogueira wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cartwright gets slowly back to his feet.
Nogueira swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clint Cartwright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cartwright moves out of range of the strikes.

Nogueira gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Nogueira has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Cartwright has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Nogueira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cartwright throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nogueira.
Nogueira appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Cartwright misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Cartwright tries to clinch up but Nogueira circles away and keeps his distance.

Cartwright shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cartwright was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cartwright lands a nice forearm strike.
