Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steaphan Beattie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steaphan Beattie!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beattie fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bravo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Beattie swings widly with a right hand

and Bravo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Beattie won't be happy with that.
Bravo throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bravo tries to score with some ground and pound. Beattie controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bravo is trying to get an arm triangle but Beattie is defending well.
Bravo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Bravo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Beattie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bravo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Beattie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bravo's guard! Nice work there by Beattie!
Bravo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bravo looking for a sweep. Not yet Bravo, not yet.

Bravo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Beattie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bravo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Beattie wants to get up but he can't break Bravo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bravo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beattie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Beattie postures up.
Beattie wants to stand but Bravo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Beattie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Beattie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bravo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bravo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bravo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Beattie is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bravo.

Bravo wants to control but Beattie postures up.
Beattie tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Beattie is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bravo's shoulder. That is not cool.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A solid leg kick lands there for Beattie.
Bravo tries to clinch but Beattie moves out of range.
Steaphan Beattie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bravo takes one on the button.
Bravo takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
A looping hook to the body misses from Beattie. Bravo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Bravo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Beattie paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Beattie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bravo connects with a crisp jab.
Beattie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bravo.

Steaphan Beattie seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bravo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Beattie clobbers Bravo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Beattie is staying active underneath Bravo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bravo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Beattie is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Beattie pushes Bravo off looking to stand but Bravo dives back in and keeps control.
Bravo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Eddie Bravo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bravo wants to work for an arm triangle but Beattie is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Beattie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bravo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
