PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen mama said knock you out as his entrance music. Gunnar Nelson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nelson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Nelson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Nelson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dylan Todd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Todd has Nelson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Nelson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Todd drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nelson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Todd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nelson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nelson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Let's hope that Nelson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Nelson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Todd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dylan Todd will probably get the nod.
