The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rockatansky shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Washington's guard.
Washington wants to sweep but no luck.

Washington is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rockatansky is aware though and is defending well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Washington can do anything to dispel that myth.
Washington keeping moving, preventing Rockatansky from controlling successfully.

Washington has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rockatansky is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Washington.

Rockatansky got a little sloppy there for a moment and Washington has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rockatansky has managed to get both his arms back between Washington's legs - danger averted.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Washington is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rockatansky can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
