Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mega Pope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers. Mega Pope has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Anthony Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mega Pope!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope throws a head kick that misses.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Pope wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.
Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pope circles away.
Pope keeps the fight on the outside.
Silva has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Wolves Den $200 Elite Circuits in the buildup to the fight.
Silva dives in and grabs Pope's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pope pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.

Silva lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Pope with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Silva has Pope pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pope manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pope's coach down at Hilo MMA Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pope's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Pope gets control of Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pope will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Pope unloads a knee to the mid-section. Silva lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Silva is trying to break the clinch but Pope is controlling him.
A frustrated look appears on Silva's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pope stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pope just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pope tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Silva's elbow.

Silva is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Pope has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Silva clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Pope has his opponent's back but Silva is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Pope.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pope swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mega Pope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pope feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Pope changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Silva kicks Pope off and gets to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pope moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Pope fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Silva checks it well.
Silva connects with a leg kick. Pope looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Pope sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Pope counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
Silva can't keep his opponent in guard - Pope advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Silva won't allow Pope to pass to mount.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pope in particular looking to stall.
Pope wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

Pope is keen to just control but Silva is a slippery customer.

Silva strikes from the bottom but Pope passes into mount!

Pope is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Silva is trying to push Pope away but Pope has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pope will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Silva up against the cage.

Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pope avoids it really well and circles away.
Silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pope tries a head kick but it misses.
Anthony Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Silva enables Pope to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Silva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Pope slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Pope prevents Silva from improving his position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pope connects with a nice short shot to Silva's temple.

Silva tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pope has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Mega Pope showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pope pinned against the cage. Pope gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Silva gets tackled into the cage by Pope. Pope maintains the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pope swings wildly with an uppercut but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pope throws a knee to the head but misses.

Pope's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Pope is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pope just stands there and leans against the cage.

Silva fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mega Pope seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Pope moves into the clinch.
Silva wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Silva blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Pope has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position.
Pope has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Silva has passed into side control.

Pope throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Mega Pope has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pope pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mega Pope comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pope has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Mega Pope was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
