Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Barath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Eldoz!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barath tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Eldoz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Barath wants to clinch up but Eldoz keeps it at a distance.
Barath shoots in looking for a takedown but Eldoz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Barath's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Eldoz lands a leg kick that knocks Barath off balance momentarily.
Eldoz throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Chris Barath has been cut.
Eldoz goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


Barath is rocked!
Eldoz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Barath tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Barath tries to clinch but Eldoz is having none of it.
Eldoz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barath drops down looking for a counter takedown but Eldoz sprawls and moves away.
Eldoz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Eldoz takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A head kick misses from Eldoz.
Eldoz tries a head kick but it misses.
Barath takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Barath clinches with his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Barath trying to stall but Eldoz improves his position.
Barath is pressed up against the cage. Eldoz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barath down to the mat. Barath avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jose Eldoz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eldoz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Barath.
Barath tries to clinch but Eldoz moves away
and Eldoz counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Eldoz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Eldoz throws a head kick that misses.
Eldoz tries a head kick but it misses.
Barath throws out a leg kick but Eldoz moves out of range and Barath only half commits.
Eldoz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jose Eldoz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Eldoz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It looked like Barath wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Eldoz tries a head kick but it misses.
Eldoz looks winded!
Barath wants to clinch
and Eldoz counters with a big head kick but Barath shrugs it off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Barath looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Barath moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromEldoz.
Eldoz throws a head kick but Barath moves out of range.
Barath looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Barath dives in and scores a takedown into Eldoz's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barath stands up over Eldoz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eldoz wants to stand and escape but Barath is having none of it.
Barath stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eldoz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Barath prevents Eldoz from getting back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eldoz can do anything to dispel that myth.
Barath slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Barath throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Barath tries to score with some ground and pound. Eldoz controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Barath prevents Eldoz from escaping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Eldoz tries to escape back to his feet but Barath has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Eldoz's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Eldoz is tapping! Barath saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chris Barath!
