Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Murray English (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mojo Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Murray English!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mojo Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ortiz gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ortiz lands a nice short elbow.

Ortiz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and English defends it well.
Ortiz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
English is looking to control Ortiz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can English avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
English is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
English is not content to let Ortiz control the position.
Ortiz wants to free his trapped foot but English is holding on for dear life with his legs.
English is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ortiz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ortiz's back!
Ortiz wants to escape the position.
Ortiz wants to control his opponent's hands but English gets his hands free.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

English is hanging on to Ortiz's back as he tries to escape.
Ortiz rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Ortiz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Ortiz desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Ortiz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Ortiz is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute English jumps into side control!
English really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ortiz tries to bench press English off him but English keeps the position.
Ortiz looking for a sweep but English has passed into full mount! Oh no!

English wants to finish this one by submission but Ortiz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from English.
Ortiz is desperately trying to improve his position but English has a good base and remains in mount.
English avoids the attempt from Ortiz to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
English raining down shots from the mount!
Ortiz tries to hold on but English pushes him away.
English cracks Ortiz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

English is working for a guillotine from mount but Ortiz frees his head quite easily.
Ortiz tries to improve his position but instead English has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murray English dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Ortiz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. English sprawls well initially but Ortiz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ortiz misses with a head shot. English uses the momentum to regain guard.
English will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
English keeping full guard, as Ortiz tries to pass.
Ortiz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed English's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
English is trying to control but can't.
Ortiz prevents English from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

English manages to get to full guard.
English looking for a sweep. Not yet English, not yet.
English is trying to keep Ortiz in close.
Ortiz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
English can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ortiz controls the pace.
Ortiz won't allow English to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ortiz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
English keeping moving, preventing Ortiz from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ortiz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

English is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ortiz defends well.

English is trying to control the position but Ortiz postures up.

English has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Ortiz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ortiz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. English is keeping the position for now.
Ortiz tries to stand but English is controlling from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Good exchange - Ortiz coming out on top.
English throws a series of punches but Ortiz avoids them all with ease.

Ortiz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.


English is rocked!

Ortiz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but English is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ortiz stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ortiz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mojo Ortiz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

English appears to be looking for a big counter.

Ortiz fakes the leg kick and cracks English in the body.
English doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

English looking to control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now English is on top in guard.

Ortiz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. English manages to get himself to full guard.

English trying to keep a closed guard but Ortiz is proving a slippery customer.

Mojo Ortiz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ortiz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
