Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Heriberto Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emil Marinov!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marinov throws a right hand that Howe ducks under and follows up with a left that Howe also avoids with ease.
Howe swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Marinov moves into the clinch.

Marinov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Howe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marinov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marinov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Howe throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Marinov throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Marinov prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Howe wants to take the fight to the mat but Marinov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Marinov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marinov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Howe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Howe tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Marinov manages to circle out of the way.

Howe gets tackled into the cage by Marinov. Marinov maintains the clinch.

Howe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Howe wants to control the position but Marinov says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Marinov in particular looking to stall.

Marinov decides to stand and escape the position.

Marinov closes the distance and clinches.

Howe pulls guard effortlessly.

Howe scrambles and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marinov moves into range and clinches up with Howe.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Marinov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Howe tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marinov swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Heriberto Howe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Marinov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Howe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Howe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Marinov throws out the jab.
Marinov goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Marinov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Howe throws a combination. Marinov tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Howe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marinov, pushing him back against the cage.

Marinov manages to break the clinch.

Marinov closes the distance and pushes Howe back into the cage.

Marinov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Howe tries to pull guard but Marinov won't allow it.
Howe is trying to pull guard but Marinov turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Howe jumps guard but Marinov stands there with Howe around his waist. Howe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Howe is breathing heavily.
Howe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Marinov smiles and moves away.
Marinov scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Marinov throws a right and a left that Howe avoids nicely.
Some wild striking there from Marinov.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emil Marinov dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Marinov moves into the clinch.
Howe drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marinov gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Howe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marinov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Howe walks forward, straight into a front kick from Marinov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marinov throws a wild body kick that Howe sees coming a mile off.
Marinov throws a head kick that misses.

Marinov lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Howe.

Howe tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Heriberto Howe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Marinov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Howe looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Howe wants to clinch.
Marinov is looking for the big counter here.
Marinov throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Howe wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Marinov throws a wild body kick that Howe sees coming a mile off.
Marinov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Oh Howe is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Marinov fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Howe square on the jaw! Damn, Howe is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Emil Marinov!
Emil Marinov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
