Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Durant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Durant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 23 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durant scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lucas doesn't seem bothered though.

Lucas gets caught flat footed, as Durant shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Durant trying to control but Lucas is working from the bottom.
Lucas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lucas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Durant is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lucas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Durant is controlling him.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lucas controls Durant momentarily but Durant frees himself.
Durant wants to control from the top but Lucas keeps moving.
Durant has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lucas is proving hard to escape from.

Durant works his foot free and advances to mount.
Durant tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lucas is looking to get to half guard.
Durant fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Lucas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Durant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Durant gets his hands free as Lucas looks to control.

Lucas is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Durant looks to throw the jab but Lucas is out of range.
Durant lands with a hook. Lucas tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That kick from Lucas tenderised Durant's leg. Durant is trying to keep his angry face on.
Durant rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Lucas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Durant looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lucas lands a jab to Durant's midsection.
Durant takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Lucas.

and Lucas cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Lucas throws a fast counter high kick but Durant manages to duck under it in time.
Lucas throws a low kick but it's checked well by Durant.
We've been informed that Lucas has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Durant gets the takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Durant thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lucas can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lucas can't do much from the bottom here.

Lucas tries to buck Durant off but Durant is having none of it.

Durant is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lucas can do to turn this around?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Durant tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Durant has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kevin Durant will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lucas tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Durant is able to avoid easily.
Kevin Durant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Durant throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lucas was covering up waiting for the punch and Durant finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lucas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Durant wants to take a breather but Lucas is having none of it.

Durant lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Durant has hold of Lucas's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lucas manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Durant wants to finish this one by submission but Lucas is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Durant.
Travis Lucas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lucas is squirming around, avoiding Durant's attempts to control the action.

I really don't envy Lucas right now.

Durant is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Durant has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lucas has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Kevin Durant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Durant looking to break Lucas's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Lucas remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Durant will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Durant is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lucas is defending well though. Durant let's go of the attempt for now.
Lucas tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Durant, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kevin Durant decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
