PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Wade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Aronwich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Wade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Aronwich !
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Aronwich .
Wade went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Aronwich takes the fight into the clinch.

Aronwich pulls guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wade's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Aronwich throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Wade slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wade keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Aronwich 's head.

Wade drops back looking for a leg! Aronwich is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aronwich manages to kick Wade off! Wade jumps back into Aronwich 's guard.

Wade drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wade jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wade controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wade tries to sprawl but Aronwich drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Wade looks like he's trying to stand up.
Aronwich is keen to just control but Wade is a slippery customer.
Wade wants to get back to full guard.
Wade looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Aronwich is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wade is just riding it out for now. Aronwich eventually gives up the hold.
Wade is trying to control but can't.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wade on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Aronwich is nestled in close to Wade, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wade wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Aronwich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wade keeps working.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Aronwich throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Wade's head.

Aronwich breaks the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wade gets a takedown into half guard.
Aronwich trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Wade manages to pass to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Aronwich dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wade misses with a low kick.
Lee Aronwich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aronwich fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Aronwich rushes Wade and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Aronwich has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wade has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Aronwich is trying to keep an underhook but Wade manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Aronwich is looking to improve his position.

Wade seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aronwich pushes Wade off looking to stand but Wade dives back in and keeps control.

Wade seems to be working for a kimura but Aronwich defends the submission attempt.
Aronwich wants to control but Wade is keeping busy and won't allow it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Wade looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Aronwich tries to roll over but Wade keeps him under control.
Aronwich is trying to control but can't.
Tommy Wade overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Aronwich fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wade to the ground. Aronwich is now in Wade's guard.
Aronwich is breathing heavily.

Wade is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aronwich defends well.
Aronwich throws an elbow that misses. Wade uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aronwich 's guard. Nice move by Wade!

Wade is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wade seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Aronwich for as long as he can get away with.
Wade's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wade takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Wade takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Wade blocks the strikes from Aronwich .
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Wade is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wade lands with a punch from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wade decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Wade gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Aronwich counters with a lovely shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Wade gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Aronwich to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Wade is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Aronwich dives into side control.

Wade avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Aronwich .
Aronwich takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wade bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Aronwich tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wade appears to be looking for a big counter.

Wade gets caught napping as Aronwich dives in and scores a takedown. Wade manages to retain guard.
Wade might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wade keeping moving, preventing Aronwich from controlling successfully.
Wade throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Wade throws a couple of heel strikes.
Wade is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aronwich is controlling him.

Wade pushes Aronwich off and gets back to his feet.

Aronwich looking to score a takedown here. Wade is defending well but Aronwich drives through and ends up in Wade's guard.

Wade wants to get back to his feet but Aronwich is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Wade will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Wade is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wade is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aronwich is controlling him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wade manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Wade shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

I would just about give that final round to Lee Aronwich .
I think Aronwich has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
