Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jong Un Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renan Melo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Fireball - Pitbull. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jong Un Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Renan Melo!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
A little feinted left hand from Kim on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kim shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Melo on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kim. Kim obviously looking to wear him down.

Renan Melo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Melo moves out of range of the body kick from Kim.
Melo closes the distance looking to clinch
and Melo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A slapping leg kick lands for Melo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kim counters with a nice uppercut.
Melo tries to close the distance and clinch but Kim swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kim seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Melo looks to score with a jab to the body but Kim is just out of range.
Kim takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Melo takes a swing at Kim's ribcage but misses.
As Melo backs away, Kim returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Melo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kim.
Kim tried to counter with a leg kick but Melo avoided it.
Kim gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Melo scoring well with a low kick there.
Melo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Melo scores with a jab to the head.

Melo looks to score with a jab to the body but Kim is just out of range.
A quick step to the side and Kim tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Melo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A looping hook to the body misses from Melo. Kim does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kim throws a body shot but no joy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Melo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kim's hands.
Kim uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Melo.
Melo throws a lazy uppercut
and Kim cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Melo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kim has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kim there as he acknowledges the shot.
Melo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Melo throws a shot from downtown. Kim moves away and avoids it.
Melo connects with a right hand. Kim shakes it off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Melo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kim manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
As Melo backs away, Kim returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Melo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Melo takes a swing at Kim's ribcage but misses.
Melo throws a hook but Kim blocks it.
It looked like Kim was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Melo.

Melo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Melo fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kim on the side of the head.
Kim chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Melo has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Melo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kim swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jong Un Kim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Melo dives in and grabs Kim's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes down on Melo's head and hops out.
Melo closes the distance but Kim moves to the side
and Kim counters with a stiff right hand.
Good leg kick by Melo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Melo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Melo doesn't manage to clinch there - Kim circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Melo pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kim is out of range and Melo settles back down.
Kim throws a right hand that misses
and Melo counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Melo misses with a looping left.
Kim displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Melo throws out the jab.
Melo scores with a body shot.
Melo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kim.
Melo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kim paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kim misses with a jab to the body
and Melo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Melo misses with an uppercut
and Kim counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renan Melo dominated that round.
That's time! Kim's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Kim counters with a right hand to the body.

Melo moves into the clinch successfully.
A shot in the inside from Kim.
Kim doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A short right from Melo on the inside.
Kim tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Melo tries a body shot but Kim blocks it.
Kim lands with a left to the head.

Melo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kim uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim is trying to control the action in half guard but Melo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kim seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Melo wants to improve his position but Kim is controlling well.
Melo is pressing down on Kim's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Melo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Melo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kim doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kim manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Melo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Melo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Melo misses with a right hand
and Kim counters with a nice leg kick.
Melo tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kim feinted there with a counter leg kick.

Kim steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Melo.
Melo works the jab nicely.
Melo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kim moves away.
Renan Melo seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Melo shoots and misses
and Kim counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Melo throws a leg kick that misses.
Melo clobbers Kim with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Both fighters circling a little - Kim finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Kim misses with a straight right.
Melo misses the jab.
Kim went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Melo can't find room to land a body shot as Kim controls the action.
Kim scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Melo tries to work over Kim's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Melo misses with some punches.
A right handed body shot lands from Kim.
Kim lands a left hand that snaps the head of Melo backwards.
A shot in the inside from Kim.
Kim lands a right hand.
Melo tries to break the clinch but Kim is controlling the position.
Melo wants a takedown.
Jong Un Kim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renan Melo.
Kim lands with a light punch inside.


Melo is rocked!
Kim lands with a short shot to the head.
Melo is still on wobbly legs! Can Kim finish him?
Kim creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Melo with a big uppercut! Melo tries to clinch up but Kim pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Melo to the mat! Melo covers up and Kim unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jong Un Kim!
After winning the bout, Jong Un Kim thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
