PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Felix Parks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Felix Parks has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Felix Parks seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian King!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for King. That snapped Parks's head back.


It looks like Felix Parks has been cut.
Parks swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and King counters with a three punch combo that has Parks backing up. Parks nods at King to acknowledge the strikes.
King shoots in for a takedown but Parks shows good takedown defense.
Parks drops down looking for a counter takedown but King sprawls and moves away.
King looks for a takedown but Parks sprawls well.
King avoids a punch combination nicely.
King lands a jab to Parks's midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Parks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

King is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Parks wants to improve his position but King is controlling well.

King escapes and gets back to his feet.
Parks lands with a kick to the temple. King shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
King fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Parks avoids it really well and circles away.

Parks pulls out of a head kick attempt.

King gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from King.
Parks takes an elbow to the temple.
King is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Parks pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Parks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
King is trying to drag Parks to the mat but Parks just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
King is trying to maintain a safe position but Parks gets an underhook and turns King into the cage.

King's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
King dives in and grabs Parks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Parks pushes down on King's head and hops out.

King gets a clinch.
King wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Parks jumps guard but King turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Parks will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning King up against the cage.
Parks really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Parks trying to control the position but instead, King has worked for underhooks and has pushed Parks into the cage.

Felix Parks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

King forces Parks back against the cage and clinches.
King tries to score a body lock takedown but Parks shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
King goes for a takedown attempt but Parks pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

King has managed to clinch.
King changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Parks fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Parks tries to stall but King uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

King manages to pull guard.
Parks postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Parks defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Brian King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



King darts in and clinches Parks up against the cage.

King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Parks is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard.

Parks makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Parks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
King controls Parks momentarily but Parks frees himself.

King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parks is one step ahead there.
Parks prevents King from getting back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Parks is looking to work some ground and pound but King has wrist control.
Parks throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Parks with a nice head shot there.
Parks missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
King looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Parks fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt King.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Parks.
King misses with a head kick.
Parks digs a good body shot into King's ribs.
King takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Felix Parks is winning the standup battle so far.
Parks shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense.

King moves into the clinch successfully.
Parks slows down the pace here.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as King takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

King has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Parks avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
