PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Demarcus Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddy Drakadar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eddy Drakadar has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Demarcus Armstrong's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Demarcus Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddy Drakadar!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drakadar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Drakadar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Armstrong swivels and escapes.
Drakadar shoots in for a takedown but Armstrong shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Drakadar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Armstrong as he jumps to the side.
Demarcus Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddy Drakadar.

Drakadar moves into the clinch successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Drakadar decides to pull guard.

Drakadar wants to stand up but Armstrong is controlling him.
Armstrong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drakadar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Armstrong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Armstrong stands up over Drakadar, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Drakadar trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Armstrong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Drakadar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Armstrong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Armstrong trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Armstrong lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Armstrong postures up in Drakadar's guard and throws a big left but Drakadar blocks it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Armstrong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Drakadar is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Drakadar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

No luck for Drakadar with that takedown attempt.
It looked like Armstrong was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Drakadar.
Drakadar looks winded!
Drakadar darts in looking for a takedown but Armstrong gets double underhooks and turns Drakadar into the cage.
It looked like Armstrong was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Drakadar scores with a jab to the head.

Armstrong closes the distance and pushes Drakadar back into the cage.
Armstrong has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Drakadar displaying some good clinch control by pressing Armstrong up against the cage.
Drakadar jumps guard but Armstrong stands there with Drakadar around his waist. Drakadar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Armstrong is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Drakadar to keep the fight standing.
Drakadar prevents Armstrong from breaking the clinch.
Drakadar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Armstrong tries to pull guard but Drakadar forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Armstrong is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Demarcus Armstrong will probably get the nod.
That's time! Armstrong's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Drakadar fails to land the takedown.

Armstrong tries to keep at a distance but Drakadar has taken the fight into the clinch.

Armstrong looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Armstrong is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Drakadar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Armstrong lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Drakadar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Armstrong is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armstrong is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Demarcus Armstrong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Drakadar throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Armstrong escapes and throws Drakadar's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Drakadar is breathing heavily.
Drakadar takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Armstrong is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Drakadar can do to turn this around?
Drakadar is trying to improve his position.
Armstrong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Armstrong throws an elbow but Drakadar slips to the side and avoids it well.

Armstrong is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Drakadar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Armstrong working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Drakadar takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Armstrong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Drakadar, who protects the arm well.
The ground and pound from Armstrong seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Drakadar fails with the takedown

and Armstrong counters by clinching up.

Armstrong manages to pull guard.
Drakadar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Armstrong is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Armstrong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drakadar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Drakadar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Drakadar looking to sit in guard and control but Armstrong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Drakadar is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Armstrong presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Armstrong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Drakadar looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Armstrong gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Drakadar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Drakadar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Armstrong feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Drakadar pushes Armstrong off and scrambles back to his feet.

Drakadar darts in and clinches Armstrong up against the cage.
Drakadar jumps guard but Armstrong stands there with Drakadar around his waist. Drakadar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Drakadar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Drakadar breaks the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Armstrong throws a right hand that Drakadar ducks under and follows up with a left that Drakadar also avoids with ease.
Eddy Drakadar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Demarcus Armstrong is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Drakadar has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eddy Drakadar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Armstrong has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
