PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Goodman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Poodle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomas Goodman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Poodle!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poodle decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poodle is thwarting Goodman's attempts to control the position.
Poodle stops Goodman from getting back to his feet.
Goodman wants to get back to full guard.
Poodle wants to stand up but Goodman has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Goodman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Poodle on the ground.
Goodman is trying to control but can't.
Poodle slows the pace down in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Poodle wants to control but Goodman is keeping him busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Goodman shoots in and gets a takedown into Poodle's guard.

Poodle pushes Goodman off and gets back to his feet.

Goodman drives through with a takedown into Poodle's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Goodman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Poodle is proving hard to escape from.
Poodle wants to sweep here but Goodman controlling him for the moment.
Poodle is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Poodle wants to work for an arm triangle but Goodman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Poodle is taking a breather. Goodman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Poodle is stalling here. Goodman is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Poodle seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Goodman has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Poodle gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Goodman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Poodle keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Poodle is trying to stand back up but Goodman is controlling him
Poodle should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Goodman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Goodman avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poodle is looking to take a break and control but Goodman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Goodman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Poodle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Poodle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Goodman sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Goodman shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Poodle pushes Goodman up against the cage in a clinch.

Poodle pulls guard effortlessly.
Poodle wants to stand but Goodman is controlling the position.
Poodle is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Goodman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Poodle dives on top into guard.

Poodle sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Goodman's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jimmy Poodle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Poodle moves into the clinch.

Poodle is fighting off a takedown attempt but Goodman is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Poodle to the mat. Poodle regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Poodle wants to get back to his feet but Goodman passes into half guard.

Goodman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Poodle is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Goodman is staying active.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Poodle is pressing down on Goodman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Poodle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Poodle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Goodman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Poodle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Poodle has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Goodman prevents Poodle from escaping the position.

Poodle is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Goodman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Goodman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Poodle's head.

Goodman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A little feinted left hand from Goodman on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Goodman.
Poodle pushes Goodman away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Goodman gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Poodle is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Goodman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Poodle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goodman is working away from the top position though.
Poodle pushes Goodman off looking to stand but Goodman dives back in and keeps control.

Poodle tries to roll over but Goodman keeps him under control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tomas Goodman.
Well Poodle has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
