Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alvaro Casey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Silva Minh!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva Minh misses with a double jab.
Casey tries to counter by clinching up but Silva Minh breaks away and moves out of range.
Silva Minh gets a clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Casey just misses with a elbow thrown towards Silva Minh's brow.
Silva Minh pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Casey clinches with his opponent.
Casey really is a fat lump.
Silva Minh has Casey pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Silva Minh pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Casey tumbling to the mat - Silva Minh dives into Casey's guard.
Casey has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Silva Minh off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silva Minh scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Casey gets back to half guard.
Silva Minh looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva Minh prevents Casey from improving his position.
Casey controlling the position for now.
Casey is trying to stand up here but Silva Minh is controlling him well.
Silva Minh wants to lay and pray for a moment but Casey keeps working.
Casey looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Casey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Casey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Silva Minh tries to improve position but can't.
Silva Minh keeps trying to improve his position.
Casey is working to tighten his grip on Silva Minh's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Silva Minh has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Casey is really squeezing tight and eventually Silva Minh passes out! Casey breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Alvaro Casey!
