Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Correa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asa Sharp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Correa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Asa Sharp!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Correa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sharp did well to prevent Correa getting side control.
Sharp is trying to escape back to his feet but Correa uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sharp manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Correa is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Sharp jumps into side control!
Correa tries to improve position but can't.
Sharp lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Correa is looking to reverse the position.
Sharp passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Correa!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Correa is in all sorts of trouble here.
Sharp looking to control but Correa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Sharp might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Correa haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Correa is looking to get to half guard.
Sharp can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Correa is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sharp controlling the pace for now.
Correa is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sharp trying to control but Correa is having none of it.
Correa regains half guard.
Correa won't allow Sharp to pass to mount.
Sharp trying to control from half guard but Correa is working away.
Correa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sharp is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sharp prevents Correa from improving his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sharp tries to pass the half guard into mount. Correa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Correa tries to get to full guard but Sharp has control of the leg.
Sharp is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Sharp is working for a kimura but Correa is defending it quite comfortably.

Correa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sharp pulls his head out easily.
Correa tries to roll over but Sharp keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sharp is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Correa is looking to improve his position.
Sharp seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Correa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Correa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sharp trying to control the position from guard on top but Correa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Correa wants to sweep here but Sharp controlling him for the moment.
Sharp lands a couple of elbows.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Correa pushes a forearm under Sharp's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Sharp is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jose Correa!
A relieved looking Jose Correa thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
