PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Greer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Gibbins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Spencer Greer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andy Gibbins!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gibbins fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Greer to the ground. Gibbins is now in Greer's guard.
Gibbins would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gibbins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gibbins trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Greer manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Greer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gibbins seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greer chips away with some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gibbins has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Greer has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Gibbins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Greer really is a fat lump.

Gibbins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gibbins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Greer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gibbins.
Gibbins showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Greer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gibbins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gibbins slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gibbins works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Gibbins wants to pass to mount but Greer is defending the position.

Gibbins seems to be working for a kimura but Greer defends the submission attempt.
Gibbins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Greer's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gibbins working over Greer with some ground and pound. Greer looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Gibbins content to control rather than advance.
Gibbins trying to pass the guard but Greer defending well.
Gibbins not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gibbins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Gibbins closes the distance and pushes Greer back into the cage.

Gibbins manages to break the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gibbins. Greer does a little dance to reset his feet.

Gibbins dives in and scores a takedown into Greer's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gibbins sitting in guard here, content to control.
Greer is breathing heavily.
Gibbins throws a big elbow that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Greer has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gibbins should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Greer has tightened it up now! Gibbins should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Spencer Greer!
