Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Christian Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Brody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brody has chosen my name is mud as his entrance music. Christian Battle could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bob Brody's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Brody!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brody looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Battle!

Brody tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Battle is trying to get back to his feet.
Brody wants to lay and pray for a moment but Battle keeps working.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brody working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brody uses his free foot to push down on Battle's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Battle.
Battle's coaches at have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Battle is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Brody has taken his back.

Battle is trying to get back to his feet but Brody has full control of the position and if anything, Battle has just worked his way into a worse spot.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Battle shoots in for a takedown but Brody shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Brody goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Battle rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Brody's guard! Nice work there by Battle!

Brody has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Battle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brody circles away quickly and effectively.
Brody throws a right hand that Battle ducks under and follows up with a left that Battle also avoids with ease.

Battle throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sloppy strikes from Battle. Those never looked like landing.
Brody changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Brody manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Battle on his heels. He'll look to pass Battle's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Brody is taking a breather. Battle says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Battle is looking to escape.
Brody slows the pace down in half guard.
Brody looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brody is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Bob Brody will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Battle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Brody shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Battle as he avoids it easily.
Battle went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Brody fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Battle to the ground. Brody is now in Battle's guard.
Battle wants to stand up but Brody is controlling him.
Brody trying to control the position from guard on top but Battle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Brody controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Brody looking to sit in guard and control but Battle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Brody is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Brody bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Battle's guard.


The fighters are working up against the cage. Battle manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Brody lands a takedown into guard.
Brody not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Brody is standing up over Battle. Battle looks to escape but Brody dives into side control.
Brody wants to lay and pray for a moment but Battle keeps working.
Battle is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Brody is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Battle wants to get back to his feet.

Battle is not content to let Brody control the position.
Brody looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Battle rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brody moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Battle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Brody closes this distance looking for a takedown but Battle circles away.
As Brody looks to move away, Battle throws a big counter combo but Brody just gets out of the way.
Battle takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Battle dodges the punch combination from Brody.
Battle misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Brody shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Battle is trying to defend but Brody finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Brody takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Battle manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Brody keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Battle pulls guard effortlessly.

Brody slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Brody trying to control but Battle is working from the bottom.
Brody sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Battle's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Christian Battle.
I think Brody has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
