Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Alvado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neymar Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santos has chosen Garota de Ipanema as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvado throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Santos sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Santos lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Santos throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
An inside leg kick lands from Santos.
Santos takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Santos tries to bum rush Alvado with a series of wild strikes but Alvado uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Santos is looking to slow Alvado down with leg kicks.
Santos looks to score with a jab to the body but Alvado is just out of range.

Alvado swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Santos's coach down at Montreal Fighter's Gym (5* Sparring) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Santos's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Santos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alvado throws a front kick that sends Santos stumbling back into the cage.
Good standup being displayed there by Santos as he connects with a hook.

Santos throws the left hand but Alvado avoids the punch easily.

Santos throws a leg kick but Alvado moved away.
Santos lands a right hook to the body.
Santos looks to land a right hand but Alvado moved out of range.
Alvado throws a lazy head kick

and Santos counters by clinching up.
Santos gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Alvado tries to work over Santos's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Alvado lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Alvado.
Santos lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Santos misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Alvado dodges an elbow strike from Santos.
Alvado tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Santos pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Santos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Santos slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Santos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Alvado on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Santos showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Alvado.
Alvado has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Santos finds it's way round the side to connect with Alvado's head.
Alvado closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Alvado keeps the fight on the outside.
Alvado throws a leg kick which misses Santos's front leg but catches the back leg as Santos tries to avoid it.
Santos lands with a thumping leg kick.
A low kick from Santos is predictable there

and Alvado counters with a crisp one two that drops Santos! Alvado thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Santos to his feet! Santos is in big trouble!

Santos is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Santos crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Alvado - the referee stops the clock and Santos gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Alvado. Santos manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Santos is still on wobbly legs! Can Alvado finish him?
Santos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santos on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alvado cracks Santos with a left hook right on the temple and Santos goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Alvado lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Santos is OK!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pablo Alvado!
A very excited looking Pablo Alvado made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Neymar Santos spoke after the fight, saying 'Merda!'.
