Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Toney Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Everett Hogdens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Everett Hogdens has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Toney Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Everett Hogdens!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Reed. No joy for Hogdens on that attempt.
Hogdens shoots in for a takedown but Reed shows good takedown defense.

Reed closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reed lands in his opponent's guard.
Reed throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Hogdens is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reed defends well.
Reed controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hogdens has his foot on Reed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reed works his way back into a safe position though.

Hogdens working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reed manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Reed seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hogdens for as long as he can get away with.
Reed could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hogdens is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Reed has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Reed knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hogdens on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hogdens escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Reed is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toney Reed dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Reed clinches up with Hogdens and pushes him back against the cage.
A right hook to the body lands for Reed.
Reed is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hogdens can do to turn this around?
Reed pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Reed pulls guard successfully.

Hogdens drops back, looking for a kneebar! Reed looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Reed looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Reed!

Hogdens is not content to let Reed control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Hogdens is looking to regain half guard here but Reed keeps moving and retains side control.

Hogdens takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hogdens tries to bench press Reed off him but Reed keeps the position.

Reed is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hogdens's shoulder. That is not cool.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
You can see the frustration on Hogdens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Toney Reed overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Reed just content to control the position.
Hogdens is looking to reverse the position.
Reed is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Reed.

Reed is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hogdens is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Reed is staying tight to Hogdens's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hogdens tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Reed swivels and escapes.

Hogdens throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Reed was covering up waiting for the punch and Hogdens finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hogdens is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Reed is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Reed has escaped and now he's on top!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hogdens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reed can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hogdens sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Reed's guard.

Hogdens is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Reed sees it coming and defends easily.
Hogdens prevents Reed from improving his position.

Reed trying to hold on to Hogdens's head to control him but Hogdens postures up.
Reed wants to get back to full guard.
Reed is trying to stand.

Hogdens seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Reed is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
