Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Damiao Marcos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Potap Kononov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Damiao Marcos has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Damiao Marcos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Potap Kononov!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Marcos.
Marcos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kononov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Marcos's coaches at Brazilian Elite Team have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Kononov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marcos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Marcos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kononov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kononov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kononov passes Marcos's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Marcos is looking to control Kononov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marcos avoid being mounted?

Marcos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kononov pulls his head out easily.

Kononov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Marcos has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kononov is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kononov is controlling the pace.
Marcos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Marcos wants to control but Kononov is keeping busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kononov is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Marcos bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kononov's head.
Kononov needs to keep his hands up - Marcos had a free shot at his head there.

Kononov drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kononov's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kononov tries to free his leg and advance position but Marcos is retaining full guard.
Marcos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kononov manages to get himself to full guard.

Kononov seems keen to control Marcos's posture.

Kononov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kononov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Marcos's guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Kononov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marcos to the mat! Marcos manages to get full guard.
Marcos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kononov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Marcos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marcos wants it to stay on the feet.
Kononov has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Marcos.

Kononov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Marcos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Potap Kononov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Kononov controlling the positon.
Kononov has the hooks in. Marcos is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Potap Kononov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kononov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
