Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Johnson looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Johnson !
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Ben Hemmingworth and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson gets a takedown into half guard.
Johnson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Morris controls his leg.
Morris moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Morris is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.

Morris is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris looking for a sweep. Not yet Morris, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson stops Morris from standing up.

Morris working for a triangle but Johnson defends it easily.
Johnson passes into half guard.
Johnson wants to stand up but Morris has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson winds up and cracks Morris with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Johnson is nestled in close to Morris, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Morris is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Morris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Morris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Morris is refusing to be controlled, as Johnson sits in half guard.
Johnson is thwarting Morris's attempts to control the position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow.
Morris preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Morris tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Johnson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Morris sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
We've been informed that Johnson has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Johnson escapes and gets back to his feet.

Morris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Morris is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.

Morris looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Johnson !
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Morris gets the takedown into side control.

Johnson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Morris feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Morris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson is working an open guard so Morris takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Morris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Morris.
Johnson tries to bum rush Morris with a series of wild strikes but Morris uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Johnson showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are battling for position here. Morris manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Morris manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

Morris distracts Johnson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Johnson wriggles free and stands up.

Some bone on bone action there as Morris checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Morris feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Morris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnson is trying to control the position but Morris postures up.

Johnson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Morris has picked Johnson up and slammed him! Johnson can't keep hold of the triangle and Morris manages to pass to side control!

Morris decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Morris shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Morris stands and steps away. Johnson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Morris closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson pushes Morris off looking to stand but Morris dives back in and keeps control.

Morris postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Johnson to stand up.

Morris drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Morris has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Morris's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacob Morris will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Johnson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Morris fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Johnson to the ground. Morris is now in Johnson 's guard.
Morris scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Morris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Morris's half guard.

Morris kicks off Johnson and gets to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Morris.

Morris drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Morris connects with a couple of short punches.

Johnson is working an open guard so Morris takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Johnson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Johnson shoots in and bounces Morris off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Morris has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Johnson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Johnson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Morris regains guard immediately.

Morris manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Johnson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Johnson tries to break free but Morris pushes him back against the cage.

Morris has Johnson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Morris pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Johnson tumbling to the mat - Morris dives into Johnson 's guard.
Morris throws an elbow that misses. Johnson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Morris's guard. Nice move by Johnson !


Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Morris, up you get!

Morris takes the fight into the clinch.

Morris is trying to trip Johnson . He has hold of a leg but Johnson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Morris persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Johnson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Morris is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johnson with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Morris is looking to work some ground and pound but Johnson has wrist control.

Jacob Morris showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Morris has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
