And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Momochi Hanzo!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thompson dives in and grabs Hanzo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hanzo pushes down on Thompson's head and hops out.
Hanzo lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

It looks like John Thompson has been cut.

Thompson fails with a takedown attempt.
Thompson has a takedown stuffed.
A little jabbing left from Hanzo on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Thompson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hanzo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Thompson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hanzo circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hanzo counters with a left and a right that hurts Thompson! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Hanzo jumps into full mount!

Thompson is looking to improve his position but Hanzo isn't that keen on the idea.
Hanzo trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Hanzo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Thompson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Thompson and Hanzo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hanzo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thompson keeps working.
Hanzo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Thompson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hanzo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thompson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Thompson is trying to control Hanzo's posture but Hanzo avoids it.
Hanzo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thompson keeps working.

Hanzo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hanzo gets to mount! Thompson was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
