The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams misses with a takedown attempt

and Joyner counters by clinching up.
Adams is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Adams goes for a takedown attempt but Joyner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Adams shoots in and drives through. Joyner sprawls well.
Willis Joyner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phill Adams.

Joyner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Adams is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Adams goes for a takedown in the clinch but Joyner prevents it.

Joyner has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Adams is trying to keep an underhook but Joyner manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Joyner tightens his grip and picks Adams up, before dumping him to the ground. Adams manages to land in guard.
Adams wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Joyner manages to pass to side control.

Joyner winds up and cracks Adams with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Joyner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adams is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
