The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Whiteside misses the target.
Maguire blocks a jab.
Maguire lands a nice leg kick that just misses Whiteside's sensitive parts.
Whiteside shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maguire as he avoids it easily.
A slow jab from Whiteside misses its intended target.

Whiteside closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Maguire's guard.
Whiteside working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Whiteside trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Whiteside trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whiteside throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whiteside works over Maguire with some ground and pound from guard.
Whiteside postures up in Maguire's guard and throws a big left but Maguire blocks it.

Whiteside has gone for a leg lock! Maguire slips out almost immediately though and dives into Whiteside's guard.

Whiteside seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Maguire controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Whiteside pushes a forearm under Maguire's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Maguire is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
