Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zoran Jolevi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Papa Shango (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zoran Jolevi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Papa Shango!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jolevi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shango.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shango is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jolevi slips nicely into half guard.

Shango working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jolevi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jolevi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Shango seems keen to control Jolevi's posture.

Jolevi wants to pass the guard but Shango is keeping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Shango is not content to let Jolevi control the position.
Shango tries to bench press Jolevi off him but Jolevi keeps the position.

Shango holds on to Jolevi's head and controls the position momentarily.
Shango is looking to regain half guard here but Jolevi keeps moving and retains side control.

Jolevi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Shango will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Shango is trying to get back to half guard.
Shango can't do much from the bottom here.
Jolevi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shango keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shango takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jolevi misses with a left hand

and Shango counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Shango throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shango is pushing down on Jolevi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jolevi is fighting to maintain full guard but Shango has managed to sneak the leg through.
Shango wants to control but Jolevi is keeping him busy.
Shango tries to pass to full mount but Jolevi defends it.
Shango lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
We've been hearing good reports from Jolevi's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Shango is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Shango tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Jolevi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shango moves away.

and Shango counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Shango is working for a kimura but Jolevi is defending it quite comfortably.
Jolevi keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Shango is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jolevi!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shango wants to control the pace but Jolevi is squirming around nicely.
Shango might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jolevi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Shango is working for a guillotine from mount but Jolevi frees his head quite easily.

Jolevi tries to hold on but Shango postures up.

Shango moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jolevi has worked his arm free - good work by Jolevi!

Shango working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Shango is looking to take a break and control but Jolevi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jolevi tries to improve position but can't.
Shango content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Shango is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Jolevi is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Papa Shango!
Papa Shango decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
