PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Horse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Garibaldi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horse's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Panda. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Horse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Garibaldi!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Horse.
Garibaldi motions for Horse to come forward. Garibaldi throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Garibaldi gets tackled into the cage by Horse. Horse maintains the clinch.
Good body shot from Garibaldi.

Garibaldi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horse lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Horse throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Garibaldi misses with a wild body shot.
Garibaldi cracks Horse with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Horse blocks a head kick by Garibaldi.
Horse tries to clinch up but Garibaldi circles away and keeps his distance.
Horse throws a body punch but Garibaldi moves out of range.
Garibaldi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Horse stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
John Horse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Horse scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Horse is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Garibaldi has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Garibaldi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Horse is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Garibaldi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Garibaldi is looking to regain half guard here but Horse keeps moving and retains side control.

Horse stands up and beckons Garibaldi to his feet.
Garibaldi throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Horse.

Garibaldi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Garibaldi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Horse defends well.

Horse stands up from Garibaldi's guard - Horse perhaps looking for a knockout.
Horse closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Garibaldi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A combination from Horse does no damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Horse tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Garibaldi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Horse manages to avoid it.
Horse is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Garibaldi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Garibaldi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horse changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Garibaldi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Horse's head.
Michael Garibaldi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Horse ducks under a wild hook from Garibaldi.
Horse darts in looking for a takedown but Garibaldi gets double underhooks and turns Horse into the cage.
Garibaldi tries to land a front kick but Horse steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Horse throws a lazy head kick
and Garibaldi counters with a head kick. That will keep Horse thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Horse shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Garibaldi's guard.
Horse is breathing heavily.
Horse trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Garibaldi manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Horse has a closed guard, preventing Garibaldi from standing up.
Garibaldi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Horse is keeping the position for now.
Garibaldi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Garibaldi trying to control but Horse is working from the bottom.
Horse will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Garibaldi throws a sloppy strike and Horse has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Garibaldi is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Horse!
