The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bannon defending well as Takahashi loads up on a big left hand.
Bannon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Takahashi.
Bannon fakes the leg kick and cracks Takahashi in the body.
Bannon lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Takahashi takes a swing at Bannon's ribcage but misses.
Bannon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Takahashi throws out the jab.
Bannon takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Bannon stuns Takahashi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Takahashi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bannon on the side of the head.

Bannon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Takahashi.

Takahashi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bannon was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Bannon attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Takahashi! But no joy.

Takahashi gets tackled into the cage by Bannon. Bannon maintains the clinch.
Bannon misses with a punch on the inside.
We've been informed that Takahashi has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Takahashi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Takahashi dips to his left and cracks Bannon with an uppercut!
Takahashi scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Thomas Bannon has been cut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Takahashi.
Bannon tries to land a front kick but Takahashi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Bannon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bannon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Bannon counters with a three punch combo that has Takahashi backing up. Takahashi nods at Bannon to acknowledge the strikes.

Takahashi throws out a counter right but Bannon avoids it with no problem.

Bannon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bannon connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Takahashi thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bannon drops Takahashi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Takahashi looks back up at him and smiles so Bannon waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Takahashi is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bannon steps in with a hook that catches Takahashi right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Bannon follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Takahashi looks absolutely devastated.
