Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Felipe Chapman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike DeCody!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeCody looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
DeCody throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
DeCody lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Felipe Chapman has been cut.

DeCody gets caught napping as Chapman dives in and scores a takedown. DeCody manages to retain guard.
Chapman wants to get up but he can't break DeCody's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Chapman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DeCody is trying to keep Chapman in close.

Chapman is stalling in the full guard.
Chapman is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
DeCody wants to get back to his feet but Chapman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Chapman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chapman throws a head kick but DeCody moves out of range.
DeCody shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chapman as he avoids it easily.
Chapman plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Chapman slaps away a takedown attempt from DeCody, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Chapman appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Felipe Chapman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike DeCody.

Chapman forces DeCody back against the cage and clinches.

Chapman pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DeCody in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeCody trying to control the position from guard on top but Chapman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chapman looking to hit a scissor sweep but DeCody is one step ahead there.
DeCody throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chapman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Chapman wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Chapman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from DeCody.
DeCody looks winded!
DeCody has a takedown stuffed.
Chapman tries to counter by moving into the clinch but DeCody manages to circle out of the way.

Chapman controls DeCody momentarily but DeCody frees himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chapman wants to sweep here but DeCody controlling him for the moment.
DeCody passes Chapman's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Chapman gets back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

DeCody manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Chapman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of DeCody is proving hard to escape from.

DeCody can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chapman controls the pace.

DeCody throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Chapman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DeCody on the ground.

Chapman looking to hit a scissor sweep but DeCody is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
DeCody throws the kick towards the body but Chapman avoids it.
DeCody is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chapman.
DeCody is breathing heavily.

Chapman throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Chapman closes the distance and clinches.

Chapman turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Chapman manages to end up in side control.
Chapman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt DeCody will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
DeCody is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Chapman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Chapman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Chapman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

DeCody wants to control but Chapman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Chapman lets loose with a powerful body kick. DeCody will feel that in the morning.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

DeCody wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chapman has him pressed against the cage.

Chapman jumps into guard, dragging DeCody to the mat.

Chapman looks to land a combination. DeCody sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

DeCody has Chapman up against the cage in a clinch.

Chapman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Chapman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Chapman controlling the action here.
DeCody is trying to stand back up but Chapman is controlling him

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Chapman wants to pass the guard but DeCody is defending well.
DeCody wants to control but Chapman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
DeCody takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
DeCody tries to roll over but Chapman keeps him under control.

Chapman prevents DeCody from improving his position.
Chapman content to control rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
DeCody swinging wildly here.
Chapman seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Chapman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Chapman stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Chapman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in DeCody's half guard.

Felipe Chapman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Chapman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down DeCody for as long as he can get away with.

Chapman escapes and gets back to his feet.

DeCody tries to sprawl but Chapman drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Chapman winds up and cracks DeCody with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
DeCody tries to get to full guard but Chapman has control of the leg.

Chapman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Chapman wants to stand up but DeCody is controlling the position.

Chapman is looking for a kimura here.

DeCody flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Well Chapman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
