The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Paquette misses its intended target.
Paquette pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Banner back to the cage. Paquette follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Banner throws a left and a right that both miss
and Paquette counters with a right hand to the body.
Banner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Paquette.

Paquette darts in and clinches Banner up against the cage.

Banner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Paquette tries to clinch up but Banner circles away and keeps his distance.
Paquette scores with a hook to the body. Banner takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Banner scores with a jab. Paquette acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

We've been informed that Paquette has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Banner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Banner looks to throw the jab but Paquette is out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Banner takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Paquette moves in looking to clinch but Banner pushes him off.

Paquette fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Banner has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Our sources have told us that Banner has been working on his elbows in the gym.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Banner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paquette throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Paquette works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Banner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Paquette tries to bum rush Banner with a series of wild strikes but Banner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Paquette drops Banner with a beautiful combination! Banner stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Paquette is looking for the KO!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
