Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Milton Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronald Griffin has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Milton Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin tries for a takedown but Cooper sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cooper wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Griffin swats away the attempt to clinch by Cooper.
Cooper tries to clinch but Griffin is having none of it.

Cooper drives through with a takedown into Griffin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Griffin has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cooper off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Griffin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Griffin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cooper looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cooper looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cooper!

Griffin manages to get back to half guard.
It looks like Cooper is going to stand back up.

Cooper stands up and beckons Griffin to join him on the feet.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Cooper.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Griffin tries to pull guard but Cooper won't allow it.
Griffin is trying to force a seperation but Cooper has the dominant position.
Griffin tries to pull guard but Cooper holds him up against the cage and eventually Griffin drops back down to his feet.
Milton Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronald Griffin.

Cooper trying to land knees to the body.
Griffin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cooper pulls his leg out and moves away.
Griffin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Cooper tries to clinch but Griffin is having none of it.
Cooper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Griffin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Griffin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Griffin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cooper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Griffin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Griffin is nestled in close to Cooper, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Griffin prevents Cooper from standing back up.

Griffin is working for a submission of some sort.
Griffin uses his free foot to push down on Cooper's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cooper.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Griffin closes the distance and clinches up with Cooper, looking for a takedown. Griffin pushes Cooper against the cage but Cooper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Griffin shoots in and drives through. Cooper sprawls well.
Milton Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronald Griffin.

As Griffin tries to get set, Cooper tries to push him back and clinch up but Griffin manages to avoid the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cooper has closed the distance and engaged Griffin in a clinch.
Griffin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Griffin tries to pull guard but Cooper forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Griffin is trying to push Cooper away but Cooper has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Griffin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cooper smiles and moves away.
Griffin has a takedown stuffed.
Cooper wants to clinch.
And Griffin tries to counter it with a takedown but Cooper pushes his down on his head and steps out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cooper leaves Griffin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cooper takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into Cooper's guard.
Griffin is looking to work some ground and pound but Cooper has wrist control.

Griffin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cooper has managed to free his arm - good work.

Griffin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cooper defends it well.
Well, if Griffin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Griffin is looking for a kimura but Cooper is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Griffin to get the leverage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Griffin looking to sit in guard and control but Cooper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Griffin has his foot on Cooper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cooper works his way back into a safe position though.
Cooper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Griffin on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cooper is looking to stand up but Griffin won't let him.
Griffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Cooper decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Griffin, up you get!

That was a close second round but I would say that Milton Cooper will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cooper sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cooper wants to get back to his feet.
Cooper won't allow Griffin to pass to mount.
Cooper is trying to stand back up but Griffin is controlling him

Griffin is working for a kimura but Cooper is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Griffin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cooper some visible discomfort.

Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Griffin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cooper, who protects the arm well.
Oh Cooper is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Griffin has hold of Cooper's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Cooper seems comfortable defending it but Griffin has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Cooper is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Cooper is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Griffin couldn't care less - he's delighted!
