PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rasul Mirzaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mirzaev comes to the ring accompanied by Natalie La Rose - Somebody ft. Jeremih. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rasul Mirzaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Miller!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirzaev throws a low kick but Miller avoids it.
Mirzaev lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Miller has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Miller misses the shot to the body.
Mirzaev fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Miller manages to avoid it.
Miller lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Miller blocks a head kick by Mirzaev.

Miller fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mirzaev to the ground. Miller is now in Mirzaev's guard.
Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Mirzaev is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miller is in close to Mirzaev's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Miller throwing shots but Mirzaev is blocking nicely.

Miller trying to mount his opponent but Mirzaev defends it.
Miller looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mirzaev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mirzaev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miller on the ground.
Miller looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Miller is trying to control. Mirzaev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Miller prevents Mirzaev from standing back up.
Miller works his way into side control.
Miller just content to control the position.

Miller is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mirzaev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Miller is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mirzaev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Miller tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Mirzaev is pushing Miller's head away, looking to escape. Miller manages to hold on to the position though.
Miller scores with a couple of short elbows.

Mirzaev is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mirzaev keeps working.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Miller is staying tight to Mirzaev's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Miller sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mirzaev is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Miller working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mirzaev takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mirzaev is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Mirzaev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mirzaev misses with an attempted mid kick.
Mirzaev comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Mirzaev misses with a low kick as Miller jumps back.
Miller slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Mirzaev cracks Miller with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mirzaev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Miller.
Mirzaev takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A nice combination there by Mirzaev.
Mirzaev throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Miller avoids a punch combination nicely.
Miller feints the counter takedown.

Miller misses with a wild combination.
Mirzaev was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Miller fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Miller looks to land a body kick but Mirzaev moved away.
Miller dodges the punch combination from Mirzaev.
Mirzaev chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Miller displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mirzaev throws out the jab.

Miller throws a leg kick
and Mirzaev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Miller cracks Mirzaev with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Rasul Mirzaev is winning the standup battle so far.
Miller tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mirzaev was well out of range. Poor timing from Miller.
Miller stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mirzaev.
Mirzaev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Miller. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Miller throws a hook to the side of Mirzaev's head but Mirzaev sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rasul Mirzaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miller takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Miller moves out of range of the leg kick from Mirzaev.
Miller attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Miller lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mirzaev at a distance.

Miller drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mirzaev is looking to get back to his feet here but Miller is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mirzaev's back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mirzaev is trying to stand back up.

Miller has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Mirzaev is defending well but eventually Miller manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Mirzaev has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ben Miller!
Ben Miller seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
